Miscarriage

When an unexpected pregnancy loss happens before the 20th week, it is called miscarriage. Miscarriage is the body’s way of ending a pregnancy that is not going right for various reasons.  Often the reason miscarriage happens is unknown. The majority of miscarriages happen very early in the pregnancy.

Most women who have had a miscarriage (even more than one) go on to have healthy pregnancies in the future. Women who have had two or more miscarriages may want to visit with a doctor before trying to get pregnant again. There are some tests that can be done to check for health problems that might be linked to miscarriage.
