Well-Woman Visit

What exactly is a well-woman visit? It is a once-a-year doctor visit that women of all ages should get that focuses on your overall health and wellness.  Your well-woman visit will be personalized to your age, family history, past health history, and the need for any screenings. It is also a great chance to ask your health care provider any questions.

Screening Ages 18-39 Ages 40-49
Blood Pressure Test Blood pressure should be taken at every medical visit

 

Discuss treatment with your health care provider if your blood pressure is 140/90 or higher

Breast Cancer Screening (mammogram) Discuss with your health care provider. May need based on family history.
Cervical Cancer Screening (Pap Test) Get a Pap test every 3 years if you are 21-29 and have a cervix

 

If you are 30 or older, you can get a Pap test and HPV test together every 5 years

Get Pap test and HPV test together every 5 years if you have a cervix
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Get screened for chlamydia and gonorrhea if you are sexually active Get screened for chlamydia and gonorrhea if you are sexually active
HIV test Get tested for HIV at least once

 

All pregnant women need to be tested for HIV
