Children of working families may be eligible if they do not have other health insurance and cannot qualify for Medicaid or the traditional CHIP program due to citizenship.

Medicaid

A state health insurance program that covers eligible individuals and families with health insurance.
Eligible pregnant women are covered from the time their application is submitted to 12 months days after delivery.
Income levels must be under 139% of the Federal Poverty Level to apply
Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal, permanent resident. Non-citizens can apply for Emergency Medicaid (below) for coverage for their delivery. Please contact a Medicaid Eligibility Workeropens in a new tab if you have questions about qualifying for Medicaid or any medical assistance program.

Emergency Medicaid

Covers eligible non-citizens with Medicaid coverage for life-threatening conditions, including child delivery.
Pregnant women should apply one month prior to their due date to receive coverage for their labor and delivery.
The baby will be covered with Medicaid until their first birthday.
Applicants must be Utah residents, but do not have to be a US citizen.
Applicants must also meet income requirements.
Coverage is limited to the month in which the medical emergency occurred.
