Exercise
Exercise should be a regular part of your life and is important to support your body's overall health. Find ways to move your body regularly that you enjoy.
Some of the benefits of regular exercise include:
- Lowered risk of conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure.
- Stronger bones and muscles.
- Improved mental health.
- Lowered risk of developing several common types of cancer.
- Improved ability to do daily activities.
- Boosted energy.
- Better sleep.
- Improved overall quality of life.
There are many ways to get exercise throughout the day, and joining a gym isn’t the only way to move your body. Here are some ideas if you’re looking for a new way to add exercise to your routine:
- Go for a walk, jog, or run.
- Do some yard work.
- Shovel snow.
- Take the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator.
- Go for a swim.
- Lift weights.
- Take an exercise class.
- Go for a bike ride.
- Try rock climbing.
- Go kayaking or paddleboarding.
- Join a community sports team.
These are not the only ways to exercise. Do whatever gets your body moving, feels good, and is something you enjoy.
